Artisanal Felting: From Surface to Form
with Maria Lucia Londoño
Scarabajo Botanical Studio · Pioneer Square, Seattle
Discover the possibilities of wool in this hands-on 6-hour artisanal felting workshop led by Colombian artist Maria Lucia Londoño at Scarabajo Botanical Studio in Pioneer Square.
You’ll begin by learning how to create low-relief marks and textures on a felted surface, then use 2-D (flat) molds to create a vessel and explore how this technique can be adapted to make other objects such as pillows, bags, slippers, and more. Finally, you’ll learn how to create compact felted forms like balls, rolls, and rings, and explore how they can be used to create jewelry.
Perfect for anyone curious about fiber arts and the possibilities of wool, this hands-on workshop offers an introduction to texture, form, and artisanal felting techniques.
